Men’s Retreat October 18-20, 2013

In a setting among the rolling wooded hills west of Napa, the men of Congregation Shomrei Torah will gather for a weekend of camaraderie, contemplation and kibitzing. Only $250. Download the Registration Form.

An Appeal from the Caring Committee & Rabbi George

Bikkur Holim, visiting the sick, being there for people when they are in need, is a basic Jewish value, and an essential element of a caring community like Shomrei Torah. Shomrei Torah members want to be there to help each other when we are down, and we want you to know you can call for help when you are in need.

Recently we have experienced an increased request for food deliveries to CST members in need of help after surgery, cancer treatment, chronic illness, etc. When you are making soup or a main dish and could make extra food, it would be most appreciated. We can help to make the delivery if you don’t drive. You don’t need to become a committee member to participate in this mitzvah.

Please contact the office if you can offer an occasional gift of food. Thank you!

Cancer Resource Team At Your Service

If you were recently diagnosed with cancer, other members of the congregation have experienced similar challenges and want to help. Would you like someone to talk with you and/or members of your family? CST will listen, answer your questions and hold your hand. Contact Susan Richter to be paired up with someone on the resource team. For those who may be interested in joining the team, please contact the office to be put in touch with the project leader.

Connections Committee

Remember the survey you filled out last spring with your membership renewal? Since then, the new Connections Committee has compiled the information and started making phone calls to members who indicated they would like to become more involved in the synagogue.
If you have not received a call or even if you haven’t turned in your survey and need a starting point for joining some of the educational, social action or just plain social groups at the temple, contact the temple office or one of the Connections Committee members.

Men’s Bagel Club

Please join us at 9:00AM on the first Sunday of each month for the Men’s Bagel Club, a nice morning of discussion and friendship.    Women are also invited.

CST’s Second Annual Jewish Food Fest, August 2013

We will be holding our second Jewish Food Fest, with great Jewish food, activities and entertainment, on August 18, 2013. The event is open to the entire community. Visit the Food Fest home page for more information.

Adopt a Landscape Plot

Leira Satlof and Carl McGahan, Charlie Catlett, Scott Posner, Cynthia and Manny Nestle, Craig Meltzner, John Weinstein and Heidi Stewart, and the Environmental Action Committee have all adopted plots on our campus.

You can too! By adopting a small area of landscaping on the grounds of the synagogue. The “Adopt-a-Plot” program is simple: willing volunteers can take responsibility for keeping a small, defined area of our gardens weed-free. Contact Dianne Smith if you are interested.

Join a Chavurah

Do you enjoy getting to know people and connecting them with other people they might like? If so, the Chavurah program needs you. The coordinator (or coordinators) match people interested in joining Chavurot with appropriate ongoing groups as well as helping to organize new ones. Contact the temple office if you are interested.
