New This Year: All High Holy Day Services at Congregation Shomrei Torah
For the first time, all of this year’s High Holy Days events will take place at Shomrei Torah, 2600 Bennett Valley Road, with a new, alternative service added to offer a significant choice to congregants who are open to a new style of worship.
In addition to the regular 8 PM Kol Nidre service, there will be a special 6 PM alternative service, featuring a more contemporary liturgy, more music, and an alternative siddur, or prayer book, specially created for Reform congregations interested in a service that more directly ties ancient tradition to current sensibilities. (As in past years, there will be an Erev Rosh Hashanah family service at 6 PM.)
High Holy Day services will be led by Rabbi George Gittleman, Rabbi Stephanie Kramer, and Cantorial Soloist Erica Wisner, with special musical accompaniment by the Congregational Choir.
Shomrei Torah welcomes the entire Jewish community to join in our observance of the Days of Awe. You need not be a member to participate, although you will need to obtain a seating card in advance by calling the synagogue office at 578-5519. No one can be admitted to High Holy Day services without a seating card. Childcare is available; please call the office for reservations and pricing information.
Please note that special security procedures are in effect for all High Holy Days services. All handbags and backpacks are subject to inspection.
IMPORTANT PARKING INFORMATION: Parking at Shomrei Torah is limited. Please click here for important parking and shuttle bus information.
