Tot Shabbat

Everyone is welcome at all our services and programs, members and non-members, Jewish and non-Jewish partners/spouses alike. These programs and services are best for children ages birth through first grade, though, older and younger children and grandparents are welcome, too. Tot Shabbat typically meets every second Shabbat (Saturday) morning* from 9:30 am-11:00 am at Congregation Shomrei Torah and at special times to celebrate holidays and learn as a community (see below).

This year in addition to our typical Tot Shabbat experiences please join us for READ day where we will participate in the congregation wide READ day. In connection with the PJ Library we will be offering a fabulous story telling and musical experience to excite your little ones about books! In keeping with tradition we will also be offering our annual Passover Seder experience for tots and their families.

December

Our December Tot Shabbat focused on Chanukah, telling stories of this holiday which reminds us to be respectful of others and tolerant of others ideas.  We made drip mats for our menorahs.  Wishing everyone a very happy, healthy 2012.

READ Day

Thank you so much for your participation in our Read Day.  It was a pleasure to see so many of our children enjoying the wonderful performance by Diana Schmiana – she is amazing!  Thanks to the PJ Library, a co-sponsor for our Read Day, for allowing us to be able to bring such a great performer to our neck of the woods.  Special thanks to Marcia Gladstone for the awesome art activity and to Lisa for bringing the yummy pumpkin bread.

We look forward to seeing you at our next Tot Shabbat on Saturday, December 10th.  Our theme will be Chanukah so cozy up for a Chanukah story, followed by the making of Chanukah decorations.

October

October’s Tot Shabbat Experience was wonderful. We all prayed in a visual, musical and spiritual way through an experiential t’filla that was projected on the wall followed by Rabbi Kramer’s amazing story about reflecting on the past year and how to improve in the year to come.Tots made beautiful shofarot and enjoyed a lovely Shabbat snack together.

On Sunday, November 6th, during Shomrei Torah Reads, Dinana Schmiana will perform a fabulous show “Book of Wonders.”  There will also be great art projects, adult learning opportunities, storytelling and lots of great give-aways for the kids!!!!.  Don’t miss this opportunity!!!!

Next Tot Shabbat Service, December 10th.
We hope everyone had a sweet and meaningful High Holy Day season.

Lauren, Rabbi Kramer and Tricia

September

September 10th we engaged in a lovely Rosh Hashanah themed Tot Shabbat. Our Shabbat service was as interactive as it gets with visual images projected, musical instruments and a creation story connecting Rosh Hashanah. The children made amazing frosted apples and honey plates to use for Rosh Hashanah, and they had a great time!

On October 1, (Note date change due to Yom Kippur) we will focus on Yom Kippur and create beautiful shofarot! Don’t Miss it!
