STARS Registration
Shomrei Torah Religious School (STARS) welcomes children in grades K-7 into our nurturing, joyful and hands-on Jewish education program. More than B’nei Mitzvah preparation, STARs helps children build their Jewish identity thorugh exploration of Jewish culture, history, ritual and tradition, and leads students to a deeper understanding of the core Jewish principles of mitzvot (commandments) and tikkun olam, (helping to make the world a better place).
During a typical afternoon session, you will find students involved in a variety of meaningful and engaging activities. Students practice Hebrew, read and learn traditional prayers, or learn how to understand Torah text. They discuss Jewish current events, ethical dilemmas, and core Jewish values. Parents are also involved and each class has at least one family program where parents learn with their child. Students and families celebrate holidays at school where they decorate the sukkah for Sukkot or light candles and eat latkes for Chanukah. Students check out books from the children’s library, create their own Jewish ritual objects such as a challah cover, play gaga (Israeli-style dodgeball), then participate in a Shabbat service or Havdalah ceremony.
Message From Rabbi Kramer:
March 2nd Fourth and Fifth Grade Family Shabbat
Fourth and fifth grade parents are encouraged to attend Family Shabbat. Directly following services we will be providing dinner for all the 4th and 5th grade families. There is a nominal charge of $10 per family to cover our costs.
Please take a moment to download our exciting Religious School Calendar. Here you will find all of the dates for the entire year. Each grade level has one Family Education Day, one Field Trip, a Family Shabbat, and a Havdallah Social. Parents are expected to attend these special opportunities with their children.
