A CAREGIVER'S CHALLENGE: Living, Loving, Letting Go
by Maryann Schacht, MSW
(Feterson Press, Santa Rosa, California)

An easy-to-read book by a long-time member of Shomrei Torah that covers a wide variety of topics unique to caregivers for very ill or dying loved ones. Fifteen sensitively written chapters cover everything from initial diagnosis to dealing with practical matters, including money-management and power-of-attorney decisions as well as self-care, utilization of community resources, ethical wills and, in the end, saying good-bye and letting go. Worksheets are included to help the reader organize thoughts, honor feelings and prioritize issues.

Grief Support ~ Sunday, February 17
from 10 am to Noon

The Caring Committee and Rabbi George invite those who have experienced a recent loss to come together for a special gathering. Our gathering will take place in the Shomrei Torah sanctuary, with brunch provided by the Caring committee (Bikur Cholim).

Well eat, talk and simply be together there is comfort in community. Please RSVP to Muncie Harper at 527-0194

How does a community respond when a family suffers serious illness, death or other tragedy? The Caring Committee at Shomrei Torah coordinates with congregation members to bring a home-cooked meal, give other members rides to services, participate in a memorial service or Minyan when the need arises, or just offers a concerned or friendly voice on the phone. Contact Muncie Harper if you know somebody in need of help or are interested in helping those in need.
