Getting Involved

In order to create a strong Jewish community, the participation of all of our members is important. At Shomrei Torah, it's like family. Sometimes you do a lot, sometimes not so much. Members get involved to help our congregation, to get to know other members, and to make their experience at Shomrei Torah more meaningful. There are many ways to join in on the work, the growth, the learning and the fun.

Board Of Directors

Each and every Board member carries a "portfolio" of responsibility for our community. From personal generosity, to committee work and planning special events, to greeting/security at worship services every week, our Board of Directors takes on the extra effort to make our community the special place in which we find each other.

Caring Committee

How does a community, as spread out as ours, respond when a family suffers serious illness, death or other tragedy? The Caring Committee contacts interested members to bring a home-cooked meal, gives other members rides to services, participates in a memorial service or Minyan when the need arises, or just offers a concerned or friendly voice on the phone.

Cemetery

Serves as our liaison to Santa Rosa Memorial Park regarding burial services. Also helps provide that information and is a conduit for any concerns.

Chavurah

Members have the opportunity to join a Chavurah (a group of friends), a temple family-within-a-family that meets regularly. The committee helps connect families with similar interests, such as similarly aged children, interfaith marriages, love of cooking, our music, or a desire to share holidays with others. New groups are forming all the time.

Choir and Band

Led by a very talented director, our volunteer choir and band add depth and beauty to our services.

Early Childhood Program

Plans services and events for children aged one to five years old and their families.

Men's Bagel Club

Meets monthly for breakfast and camaraderie, as well as to hear speakers or participate in a discussion of current interests. They host the Annual Meeting BBQ and sell sandwiches at the community's Simcha Sunday event.

Oneg

Organizes members to provide for the Oneg Shabbats at the conclusion of Friday evening services. The Oneg Committee encourages families and chavurot to volunteer.

Pledge

Meets regularly to review pledge amounts, current payments and contacts members to help them with their temple fiscal planning.
